A Fly On Forehead Pushes Obama To Lose His Cool During A Speech

Friday, January 25, 2013

A naughty little insect did one better Thursday, landing on the forehead of President Obama as he announced his nominees to lead the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

The normally stoic commander-in-chief appeared visibly distracted with the bothersome bug buzzing around him. At one point, Mr Obama even noted, 'This guy's bothering me here.'

This was not the newly re-elected president’s first encounter with pesky pests.
In 2008, Mr Obama was flipping burgers on a grill for a photo-op while campaigning in Iowa when he was swarmed by flies, according to the L.A. Times.

US College Girls Spark #boobment Twitter Craze

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

College girls in United States have sparked a new Twitter craze of posting their cleavage shots while wearing their college sports teams’ strips.

Girls from the University Of Kansas sparked the ‘KUBoobs’ trend - which is also known by the hashtag #boobment. They also featured the images on the website called kuboobs.com.

It began after pupil Tiffany Kent posted a snap of her chest for good luck when her beloved Kansas Jayhawks basketball team were losing by 19 points. And, it had the desired effect, with the team storming back to win by one point.

Now the boob craze is sweeping the States, with more than 30 similar accounts popping up at campuses across the land. The snaps mainly feature girls but some have included men and even statues.

How Big $1 Trillion Platinum Coin Will Be ?

Thursday, January 10, 2013

The proposal that the president should order the US Treasury to mint a trillion-dollar platinum coin—a ploy to sidestep the debt ceiling, which will prevent further borrowing sometime in February—has generated a ton of hype and garnered some support online. Nobel-prize winning economist Paul Krugman is for it, as is Business Insider’s Joe Weisenthal. Others, like The Guardian’s Heidi Moore and Quartz’s Tim Fernholz, consider the idea absurd.

It’s highly unlikely that Obama would even consider the scheme. But the real question about the platinum coin is: What would the thing look like? And most importantly, how big should a trillion dollar coin be?

A coin can be any size. The Treasury gets to decide a coin’s worth, and the value of the metal that comprises the coin doesn’t have anything to do with its value in currency. Say the Platinum Trill (our name for the coin) were the size of a standard circulating US coin. Here’s how much the metal would cost:

Or, we could pick the size in a more sophisticated way. There is a very rough relationship between the face value of a coin and the raw value of its metal. You could extrapolate that relationship to $1 trillion like so:

The result is a coin made of $60 billion of pure platinum that weighs about 500,000 pounds, and, if it had the same proportions as a quarter, would be 10.5 yards in diameter and a little over two feet tall. Not exactly pocket change.

Shotgun Wedding! Couples Exchange Vows While Holding Firearm

Monday, January 7, 2013

Couples in the US are celebrating their wedding by shooting a firearm of their choice after exchanging their vows.

In bizarre scenes, they are also posing with shotguns on their special day as they attend The Gun Store in Las Vegas to exchange their vows. The 'shotgun weddings' are still proving popular despite the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school that sparked debate about US policy on gun control.

Organisers The Gun Store insist no weddings have been cancelled in the wake of the tragedy and bookings are still flooding in.

Couples travel from all over the world, including the UK, to tie the knot at the store in full bridal wear - before firing semi-automatics as well as pistols, UZIs and AK47s.

The $450 package includes an ordained minister, access to a private VIP shooting range and five shots on a shotgun for the bride and groom. Another deal, called the Mr & Mrs Smith & Wesson, offers even more guns, ammunition and targets.

Emily Miller, an ordained minister at the Gun Store, said: 'We’re here because people love each other and guns.

'Guns don’t have to be about anger and hate. This is a fun and energetic way to get out their aggressions and emotions.'

Since February last year, ten Shotgun Weddings have been conducted each month.
One couple travelled from their home in Ottawa, Canada, where gun laws are much stricter than Nevada.

Smugglers Get Stuck Trying To Drive Over The US-Mexican Border

Friday, November 2, 2012

TALK about the final frontier — these drug smugglers got stuck on the border after trying to cross it via makeshift ramps.

The narco gang’s Jeep became wedged on the iron fence between the US and Mexico after they misjudged the angle of metal railings leant against it. US border patrol agents found the motor dangling from the 14ft structure.

Two people were trying to get it unstuck on the Mexican side but fled when they spotted the officers. The car was empty but agents believe it was filled with substances such as marijuana before the car got stuck.

Katy Perry Supports Obama While Wearing A Bizarre Election Ad Dress

Thursday, October 25, 2012

Anyone left wondering who Katy Perry plans to vote for in the American presidential election next month? The singer pledged her support for Barack Obama in typically wacky fashion at a rally in Las Vegas last night.

Katy, 28, took to the stage in a tight white rubber dress printed up like an election ballot slip. The words "PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES" were printed across her boobs - and she made a big black mark next to the names of Obama and his Vice President Joe Biden.

The brunette begged the 13,000-strong crowd to "vote early" between performances of Teenage Dream, Firework and a rendition of Obama's favourite song, Al Green's Let's Stay Together. But when the president took to the stage himself - he confessed Katy isn't his favourite member of the Perry family.

Obama told the crowd: "I've got to know Katy and she's a wonderful young lady. And I can tell that part of it is because of her outstanding grandma Anne, a 50-year resident of Nevada. "The only thing I have to say is Anne got some lipstick on me when she kissed me. Fortunately somebody wiped it off before Michelle saw it."

Obama will hope Katy's cat cry helps his chances of re-election when America goes to the polls on November 6. His campaign has taken a battering in recent weeks thanks to Republican rival Mitt Romney's strong showing in the televised election debates.
It's not the first time the singer has lent her support to Obama's campaign.

Obama Delivers Pizza To His Supporters

Monday, October 15, 2012

US President Barack Obama on Monday turned pizza delivery man, descending on a campaign office in Nevada as he took a respite from practicing for his debate with Mitt Romney.

Obama hugged volunteers working for his re-election effort in the western battleground state and called others on the telephone, after leaving the lakeside resort where he is spending three days in debate camp.

"Nevada's going to be close. It's going to be close all across the country," Obama told the delighted supporters after entering the office with a batch of freshly made pizzas.

"We're going to get this done. We're going to win," Obama said.

He told one volunteer, Andrea Stinger, whom he called by phone, that he was having fun honing his debate technique ahead of Wednesday's clash with Republican candidate Romney.

"It's very nice. Although basically they're keeping me indoors all the time. It's a drag. They're making me do my homework," Obama said.

"This is my last campaign so we want to leave it all on the table and work as hard as we can."

Obama and Romney clash in the first of three presidential debates on Wednesday night in Denver, Colorado.
